A Monumental Weekend

So beautiful are the moments in life that make your head truly spin.

This weekend I met my birth mother Wanda and my brother Mark for the first time. Time and circumstance kept us apart for 36 years, but through luck and openness we were able to meet face to face for the first time.

How do I even capture such an experience? For one, forget all the adoption issues and genetic histories, I finally look like someone.

For another, this heartwarming experience has left me with such a tremendous sense of love and gratitude. It is this reason that I start this blog - to acknowledge all that is beautiful and wonderful about life.

I have an incredible sense of wholeness now. I now know and can appreciate what my parents gave me. I have a better idea of the things that contributed biologically. And I have a sense of what is just uniquely me. Words cannot describe what a truly wonderful gift this is.

It is with excitement that I look forward to what these new relationships might bring. It is with gratitude that I look back on this weekend and all that it brought me in peace and happiness.

Thank you Wanda and Mark for welcoming me in to your life. I'm so glad I found you.
